Site 6B of Long Island Creek is situated in the Long Island Creek sub-basin included in the Upper Chattahoochee watershed. Site 6B is within the boundaries of the East Palisades Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area unit and downstream from Site A. Site B is approximately 228 feet from the mouth of Long Island Creek where it empties into the Chattahoochee River in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Outside the borders of the National Recreation Area are primarily single family and/or low-density residential. Monitoring of this area occurred weekly between June 14, 2012 and June 26, 2012. During this time the weather was predominantly clear with some occasional rain at the beginning of the monitoring period. In this section of the Long Island Creek the appearance of the water is tannic and the bed of the stream is covered with mostly sand and occasionally small rocks.

Land Uses/Activities and Impervious Cover
The area surveyed in site 6B was the land adjacent to the creek. No evidence was found of external disturbances to the stream area of site 6B as would be expected from a site inside of a National Park or Recreation Area.
General Waterbody and Watershed Characteristics
The Watershed Visual Survey conducted on 2 July 2012 indicated no major hydrologic modifications. The stream bed at this site is relatively broad at 57 feet wide and 8.83 feet deep. For days with no preceding rainfall, the stream runs tannic with a sandy/muddy bottom with occasional rocks. A fair amount of natural debris exists from leaves and fallen trees. The stream banks are approximately 90% covered in vegetation and 70% of the stream segment is exposed to direct sunlight. The bank shows some undercutting and generally has a steeper slope than site A. A foot bridge crosses the stream several hundred yards upstream leading from the parking area to foot paths and trails beyond. This stream segment contained very little litter.
